How my journey began

Hello, I am a bilingual Mexican citizen who, from a young age was raised in the United States. I have dealt with inequality and a search for self-identity and acceptance. During my earlier years, I was unaware that I was struggling with abandonment issues. Many of those struggles came from leaving my country, my home, and my family behind. Life has been difficult dealing with the many insecurities, lack of confidence, and self-doubt. However, I now understand that finding myself and my place in this world was a journey that I made possible. Each day I look forward to a deeper search and understanding of the struggles I often face, along with the knowledge that I do have control over my relationships and my life.

Education

California State University, Fullerton

After learning a new language and culture, my love for learning grew along with my desire to belong and be accepted. I continued my education and enrolled in a liberal arts program. I met many outstanding professors and classmates/friends that left my life as I concluded each semester, and my search for self-identity and acceptance was a struggle that I hardly understood.

Hope International University

As I continued my search for self-identity, growth, and change in my everyday life, I enrolled in a master’s program in Marriage and Family Therapy. My journey started as I moved forward with my classes and the program. My professors and colleagues encouraged me to understand who I was as a person and who I wanted to be as a therapist. I must say that I found a deeper self-identity and acceptance when I stopped searching and existed as my true self.

Clinical Practice

Hope Counseling Center

My clinical practice allowed me to further become whole with my self-identity and inner acceptance of who I am. I was privileged to share my passion for helping others identify their inner strengths and abilities to work through their weaknesses as they found their ability to fulfill their potential. I discovered that my journey was followed by the connection of Cognitive Behavior Therapy and a Person-Centered Therapy approach to help my clients understand their struggles.
